Welcome to the 9th International Auriculotherapy Symposium to be held August 10 -12, 2017 in Singapore. At the 8th Symposium at John Hopkins University, Montgomery Campus, Maryland in May 2014, Singapore was chosen as the next symposium destination as it is a truly modern green city and gateway to South East Asia and the Asia Pacific nations. Within a few hours flight, the wonders of Angkor Wat, the boulevards of Hanoi in Vietnam, the beaches of Phuket and Koh Samui in Thailand, the Nonya history of Penang and Malacca, Malaysia and also Bali, Indonesia beckon. Take the opportunity to explore…
The Symposia began in Lyon in 1994 at Groupe Lyonnais d'Etudes Medicales (GLEM) as a celebration of Dr. Paul Nogier’s significant contribution to medicine -auricular acupuncture or auriculotherapy, the Vasculo-Autonomic Signal or VAS, now referred to as the Nogier Sign, and as a tri-ennial meeting for the teaching and also for the sharing of advances in auriculotherapy, auricular acupuncture and related techniques in the international auriculo-community. Over the next 3 years we hope this important specialty reaches far into the medical fraternity and becomes mainstream medicine to help patients, improve outcomes, and contribute significantly to global health economics.
In 2017, it is hoped that we can share the expertise with personnel from the humanitarian organisations so that it can be part of the rescue and treatment regimes in mass disasters. Let us all work towards this goal!
The efficacy of auriculotherapy has been well established in battlefield acupuncture, in post-traumatic stress disorders, in pain management amongst many other indications for clinical management. Its unfolding neuroscience basis, and neuromodulation mechanisms make auriculotherapy an easy skill for any clinician to learn. Auriculotherapy is stand -alone and does not need body acupuncture knowledge to work.
The symposium will suit both the novice and advanced clinician with the length and breadth of knowledge to be presented.
We invite you to contribute to the evidence base for auriculotherapy in 2017.
There will be awards for the best research project and best poster presentation. In 2017, lifetime achievement awards will also be presented.
Sponsors are very welcome to support one / several of the speakers, contribute towards the awards and the gala dinner. Please contact Prof. Aung!
Once again, welcome and we look forward to meeting you in Singapore!
